Glucacon-like Peptide - 1 (GLP-1)
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is an endogenous peptide with many important physiological actions including
stimulation of insulin release from the pancreas. Furthermore, GLP-1 reduces the gastrointestinal motor
activity and increases the compliance of the gastric ventricle wall. By modulating smooth muscle contraction within the gut, GLP-1 has been shown to reduce contractions and muscular spasm associated with an IBS attack .
ROSE-010 a Patented Stable Analogue of GLP-1
Native GLP-1 is rapidly cleared from the circulation. ROSE-010 is a stable analogue of GLP-1 and has a
circulatory half life of about 1 hour. It was originally called GTP-010 and was licensed from Eli Lilly who
had originally developed it for a diabetes indication.
ROSE-010 in Irritable Bowel Syndrome
The original clinical concept for GLP-1 therapy in IBS was developed by Prof Per Hellstrom at the Karolinska
Institute, Sweden and Prof Hellstrom is our lead clinical investigator.
Clinical Results with ROSE-010
We are developing ROSE-010 as a treatment for severe pain attacks in IBS and FD. In a Phase IIa prospective,
randomized, placebo-controlled trial in IBS we have shown that ROSE-1 significantly reduces pain in severe
attacks and does so within a clinically
meaningful time period.
